Chopta trek : mini Switzerland in India

Chopta trek : mini Switzerland in India

Chopta (at a height of around 2,608 m), a piece of heaven nestled away in the Garhwal Himalayas, is referred to as the “mini Switzerland” of Uttarakhand. Chopta Trek is a popular vacation spot all year round, offering nice weather in the summer, refreshing rain in the monsoon, and a snow-covered fairyland in the winter. It is surrounded by bugyals, or velvety meadows, and immaculate snow-capped hills. The five most important Shiva temples in the state, the Panch Kedar, are centered at Chopta. Rudranath, Kalpeshwar, and Kedarnath shrines are to its right, while the Tungnath temple is directly above it. Kedarnath and Madmaheshwar shrines are to its left. A birdwatcher’s delight, Chopta is home to approximately 240 kinds of birds, including migratory and native species like the Himalayan monal, Himalayan swiftlet, Himalayan griffon, scarlet finch, hill partridge, and others. The greatest locations to observe our feathered companions are close by locations like Dugalbitta, Mandal Village, Makkumath, and the Tungnath Trek Route. National and international organizations dedicated to biodiversity and conservation have designated Chopta as a key location for birdwatching.

Places to visit :

Tunganath- the highest temple of shiva

In the Rudraprayag area of Uttarakhand, this ancient temple may be found on Chandranath Parbat. The tallest of the five Panch Kedar temples, Tunganath, is situated at a height of 3680 meters. The distance from Chopta is only 4 km, but owing to the heavy snowfall in the winter, this may be a challenging hike. The temple is linked to several myths, particularly those involving Shiva and the Mahabharata, a Hindu deity. The winter season sees the Tungnath temple shuttered for almost six months of the year. Be aware that taking photos within the temple is prohibited.

Chandrashila- the moon rock

The climb from Chopta to Chandrashila Peak, or “Moon Rock,” is one of the simpler ones in the Himalayas. It is about one kilometer away from the Tungnath Temple and offers stunning views of Kedarnath, Chaukhamba, Trishul, and Nanda Devi peaks. Its shrine to the Hindu god Lakshman is located at the peak, at a height of 4,000 meters. Remember that there is nowhere to camp or remain at the summit, so it is better to set out on your hike early in order to finish in time.

Ukhimath- the winter home of shiva

The Shiva temple in this little village close to Chopta is its main draw. The Shiva and Madhyamaheshwar statues from the Kedarnath temple are transported here during the winter for six months of adoration. Consequently, it is a revered Hindu pilgrimage location. There are other additional historic temples in Ukhimath that are devoted to various Hindu deities, including Usha, Aniruddha, and Parvati.

Deoria Tal

The tranquil Deoria Tal is situated approximately 2 kilometers from the villages of Mastura and Sari on the Ukhimath-Chopta route. At a height of 2,438 meters, the lake reflects the snow-covered mountains and is bordered by thick forests. Due to its proximity to the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary, it draws a lot of tourists. There are a few nearby stores and tea vendors, but they close around dusk. Campfires are not permitted here either.

Itinerary

DAY 1

The trip would take 7-8 hours from Haridwar to Sari village. You will go with the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, and you will be at Sari by 6:00 p.m. On the first day, the Chopta trip is simple and includes both elevation and descent. The Chandrashila top is readily seen from the end, where a speck of colour represents the Tungnath temple, and a perfectly defined stony road will lead you there. The mountain’s ridgeback bends sharply upward after this point. Get ready for an exhilarating ascent that will serve as your introduction to difficulty before you arrive at a Forest Department-built rest station. You can take a 20-minute break here if your Trek Leader clocks you in on time. Here, a beautiful view of the mountain fall’s path is waiting.

The Chaukhamba massifs are revealed as a magnificent backdrop to the lake. By the time you get there, it will be dusk. Upon arrival at the lakeside camp in Deoria Tal, a hot meal will be provided.

DAY 2

The track you take today will let you get more familiar with the Chaukhamba massif and the peak of Mount Kedar. The red and yellow flags that have been attached to the little shrines along the route make them stand out in the surrounding greenery. We are immediately led up an uphill road towards Rohini Bugyal and Chopta after passing through a clearing in the forest that is lined with scarlet blooms. Level ground and some wiggle room in the strenuous uphill walk replace the ascending track. On the other side of the forest boundary is a magnificent vista of the Chandrashila. You will have to re-enter the forest after the level area, where you will see that old oak and maple trees are now located next to rhododendrons. Reach Chopta and have a nice meal by the bonfire while you camp out beneath the stars in Kedarnath Sanctuary, where hikers may see red fox and other animals.

DAY 3

Today in the early morning, we start the walk. We may enjoy a stunning dawn from Tungnath summit if we start in the early hours of the morning.

From Chopta to the temple, the trip follows a clearly marked, concrete-bound path. The hike today will be challenging, with steep ascents and quick twists. Other shrines, including one with a flagpole in particular, will be on the way. This one follows the road’s tenth curve and heralds the beginning of a magnificent view of Chandrashila in the distance.

All about Delhi to Auli tour:

All about Delhi to Auli tour:

How to reach:

There are numerous routes you can take to get to Auli. Either take a flight to Delhi first or go straight to Dehradun.

Jolly Grant Airport is the one closest to Auli. About 280 KM separates the location from the airport.

However, you can also use the railroad system to go to this location. The Haridwar train station is the one closest to this location. Many trains go there.

You can also take a bus to Rishikesh or Dehradun. Buses from Roadways frequently travel to this location.

You can once more take a bus or a shared taxi to go to Auli from Rishikesh or Dehradun. Early in the morning, buses depart. Additionally, there are choices for hiring a private taxi. But the price would be high.

Location:

The most beautiful views of the magnificent Himalayas may be seen in Auli, which is 2,800 meters above sea level. It’s in Uttarakhand, a place renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. It is situated in the Garhwali district of the upper Himalayas.

Itinerary of the trip route:

DAY-1:

It is simple to go from Delhi to Rishikesh by bus overnight. While private buses leave from Anand Vihar ISBT, government buses leave from Kashmiri Gate. Public and private websites both offer online bus reservations. However, it won’t be difficult to find private buses to Rishikesh immediately

DAY-2:

You will arrive in Rishikesh early in the morning, from which point you can select from several transportation options to go to Auli. Early in the morning, the buses depart. You can also ask for shared cabs because many tourists use this location to travel to Auli.

If there isn’t a bus that goes straight to Auli, you can take a bus to Joshimath and then another bus or a taxi to get to Auli from there. Since Joshimath is close to Auli, these possibilities would be more affordable.

You will get to Auli sometime in the evening. Enjoy the view today by taking a break. Immediately, you’ll fall in love.

DAY- 3 and 4:

Visit Auli for the following two days. There are two distinct days. You may spend a day exploring the regions adjacent to Auli. You can go skiing and take the cable car back and forth to Joshimath the next day.

DAY-5:

Take the morning bus from Auli to Rishikesh, which leaves first. Going to Rishikesh from Auli takes 10 to 12 hours. At Rishikesh, you can get back on a bus and head to Delhi.

Things to do and places to visit:

Beautiful views of the Himalayan Alps may be found in Auli. One may view Nanda Devi from here. The mighty Nanda Devi can be found at a height of 7800 meters. From a distance, the snow-covered mountains can be seen, and it is incredibly relaxing to sip tea and take in the scenery. The colors are even more stunning towards sunset when the entire sky is bathed in a pink hue.

Your eyes will never forget the expansive view with the soaring peaks visible in all four directions.

Skiing in Auli:

In Auli, skiing is a well-known sport to participate in. Many visitors only come to ski when they are here. The man-made lake contributes to the year-round production of snow. Skiing is an activity that does not necessarily require professional training or physical fitness. You can choose to hire a one-hour skiing guide, who will provide you with all the necessary equipment and assist you in having the greatest possible first skiing experience.

Artificial lake:

In addition to having the highest cable car, Auli is notable for having the highest man-made lake. The purpose of this lake’s construction was to create artificial snow, allowing skiers to practice their sport all year round.

As a result, when there is little snowfall during a given season, the water from this lake is utilized to create a beautiful skiing surface.

Hanuman temple:

The Hanuman temple is situated here. While delivering Sanjivini to Laxman, Hanuman Ji is said to have taken a nap in this location. Laxman, Lord Rama’s younger brother, allegedly suffered injuries during one of his battles in Sri Lanka. Only the Himalayan plant “Sanjivini” would have been able to relieve his discomfort. Hanuman Ji flew from Lanka to take the herb and had a nap in the brand-new Auli temple.

All you need to know about Hospitality Courses

All you need to know about Hospitality Courses

The hotels, resorts, and lodging industry typically have jobs available in hospitality management. Experts in this field create and oversee several aspects of the visitor experience. They frequently lead teams that comprise sales, housekeeping, and front desk personnel. Great hospitality managers are concerned about how much their visitors enjoy their experience and, wherever possible, they look for fresh methods to enhance every part of a stay.

Hotel chains, motels, resorts, and condominiums are the primary types of properties where hospitality managers frequently operate. However, there are also hospitality managers working in retail, food & beverage, private aviation, and other sectors.

As you can see, every form of business has its own unique needs and clientele. Of course, it’s a good idea to have a broad concept of which one you’d like to specialize in before you start looking for hospitality management positions.

Regular daily tasks include hiring new employees, monitoring budgets and costs, and coordinating among departments. However, these and any extra duties differ. To help other staff members reach their goals, hospitality managers at big or chain hotels, like Hilton’s associate general manager Meghan Macauley, may create career plans.

Making guests happy and staying within a set budget are the two key objectives of those in the hospitality management industry. These goals frequently conflict, like when a visitor asks for a full refund following a multi-night stay. The hotel management must decide what the business can afford, how to make reparations to the customer, and how people handling complaints ought to go about coming up with answers.

What is the basic difference between Hospitality and hotel management?

The scope distinction is the biggest. Everything related to housing, entertainment, and shopping are included in hospitality management. Hotel management, however, is largely restricted to hotels, as the name suggests. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still a lot of different hotel property kinds, brand styles, and career options available.

What are the different fields in which you can work?

Before you pursue additional schooling, it’s a good idea to become familiar with some of the professions you might be suited for because hotel management is such a large field. Here is a sample of a few positions in hotel management, together with information on salaries and typical duties.

Hotel general manager

Control the front desk and housekeeping personnel.

Connect with vendors

Implement accounting practices such as forecasting, payroll, and costs.

Property operations manager

  • Bring in new business prospects and leads for group travel.
  • Assist with everyday management and property acquisitions
  • Enhance and uphold a high level of customer satisfaction

Restaurant manager

Salary: According to Glassdoor, the average base income is $45K.

Daily chores could include:

  • Uphold requirements for safety and food quality
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels for both employee and consumer use
  • Establish connections with suppliers and look for new prospects.

How to become a professional in hospitality management?

Getting a Degree and certification

For each person, a particular degree or qualification is “correct.” However, in general, it should be one that you can afford, offers specialist courses within the industry you want to work in, and has excellent networking possibilities that can help you land the job you desire. If earning a degree isn’t for you, there are also a tonne of certifications and programs available, such as the Cornell Hospitality Management Certification, the Supplier Network Certification from Cvent, and the AHLEI Hospitality Management Course.

Developing your skills

You may hone your skills in a variety of ways, such as by watching relevant videos, engaging in social media conversations with thought leaders, and listening to industry podcasts. Whether you have a degree or not, you should think about including these resources on your list for developing your skills:

  • A weekly podcast called Lodging Leaders features conversations with industry leaders as well as news and trends.
  • A backlog of audio episodes called Hospitality courses Academy is intended to teach listeners how to manage their businesses more effectively and profitably.
  • Bill Quiseng offers guidance on customer experience based on his three decades of experience working in the luxury hotel industry.

Work with some famous and targeted brands online

Examining your social media connections and informing your direct connections in the business of your interest in hospitality management are two of the finest strategies to effectively network from home. Additionally, look through their networks and request introductions to anyone who works in the hospitality sector.

Through organizations like The American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Forum Speaker Series and other trade associations, you can also explore online conferences, roundtables, and networking opportunities. Introduce yourself to the hosts, presenters, and attendees after the event and let them know you’re available and interested in the topic.

Kareri Lake trek :Trekking in the Dhauladhars

Kareri Lake Trek: Trekking in the Dhauladhars

A best trekking location in the Dhauladhars Kareri Lake Trek has become a sensation among trekkers these days. Located at the altitude of 2934 metres above the sea level, Kareri Lake is a beautiful location in Himachal Pradesh. This trek is approximately 9kms from Dharamshala in Kangra district. There is a temple of Lord Shiva and Shakti, on a hilltop near the Kareri Lake. Snow melting from the Dhauladhar range acts as the source of Lake and a stream. The lake bed can be seen from many places, as the lake is shallow and fresh snow is melting there. Let’s take a look at what Kareri Lake has to offer and why it can be the best trek for you.

About Kareri Lake

Kareri Lake is located at an altitude of 9,650 feet. It is located almost 9kms from Dharmashala. The temperature at Kareri Lake varies season to season. It can go upto 43 degrees in summers and can even touch negatives in winters. But, according to this, the best time to go on this trek is Spring (March to April). Going to Kareri Lake is not recommended during monsoon as the trails become slippery and are dangerous and can lead to accidents.

A trek to Kareri Lake takes the travellers to the best  flora there. The flora consists of Oak trees, Pine trees and many more. A beautiful stream welcoming the trekkers, wildflowers and Green moss covering the boulders and adding to its beauty. The flora changes as we go to higher altitudes. Starting from the Pine forests it soon transitions to grasslands, with some traces of Deodar and Pine. Small waterfalls and streams follow across the way.

This is a 3 day long trek that covers 27kms (one side). This trek is relatively an easy trek and is beginner friendly. You have a perfect chance of a lifetime to trek in the beautiful state of India, Himachal Pradesh. Experiencing the cultures and traditions of Kareri village and wonderful hospitality at the homestay. Going to the lake, living in tears, and sleeping bags, is a lifetime experience.

The adventure starts from Dharmkot. There are many routes to reach Dharmkot. But, the easiest way is an overnight bus from Delhi to McLeodganj. Dharmkot is just 2kms away from McLeodganj.

Day 1 of trek, you’ll begin your journey from McLeodganj to Kareri Village by cab. Heading towards the base camp, that is set up at Kareri Village at an altitude of 2200 meters. While travelling, you’ll witness the best of nature; including the beautiful streams flowing alongside, Pine and Oak trees, and ofcourse the beautiful view of the Himalayas. While relaxing and getting ready for the trek, you can even have conversation with the local tribes of the area called The Gaddi Tribes. Later the same day, you’ll proceed to trek to Kareri Lake. Kareri Lake lies at an altitude of 3,300m.  As you reach Minkiani Pass, you’ll get to see the mesmerizing view of Kareri Lake. Then, trek back to Reoti for camping. Have dinner and enjoy the night in the valley under the stars.

Day 2 of trek, you’ll be trekking from Reoti to Kareri Lake. Trekking along the sides of Nyund Nallah river, you’ll reach the final destination, Kareri Lake.  Follow the trails and get closer to water. The water is cold but shallow at the banks. The mountains of the Dhauladhar are present exactly at the opposite side of the lake. Trekking leads to a beautiful and magnificent lake that one can never forget. Take some time to appreciate the beauty of the lake and the surroundings and spend time in nature till the sunset covers the valley in orange. You’ll come across a small yet beautiful Shiva temple on the trails after crossing Reoti.

Planning your travel

The trek involves steep and gentle slopes. The trek goes on for a whole day. So, try to exercise and build your core for this. If this is your first time trekking, try to carry trekking poles as they help a lot while passing from steep trails. Also, carry shoes with good grip as the trails are steep and are on slopes. Always have a medical kit with you ad no one really knows what circumstance can one go through. Try to have a day or two extra time as the weather is quite unpredictable. Last but not the least, try to explore as much as you can on trek as trekking is meant to be done for discovering and travelling to new places and making memories.

Concept mapping | types | importance | example

I am going to discuss Concept mapping in this article. Concept mapping was developed by Joseph D. Novak. and his research team at Cornell University as a means of representing the emerging science knowledge of students. It is a graphical tool to organize and represent knowledge. It forces us to think outside the traditional outline.
Later, I will also explain the need and the importance of concept mapping i.e. why has it been developed, what is the benefits of concept mapping, which type of concept mapping should be used for a topic to make an effective learning. I will also illustrate it by making a concept mapping on coordinate geometry and will also discuss its rationales.
At last, I will conclude my experience of making this article.

Concept mapping is a graphical tool that visualizes relationships between concepts. It is an individualized technique of summarizing the relationship among different ideas in graphs while engaged in learning activity.

According to Joseph d. Novak,

“A concept mapping is a visual representation of hierarchy and relations among concepts within an individual’s mind.”

There are many tools available to create a concept map. Digital concept map are easier to edit and organize. Now a day, there are many software tools like Camp tools, VUE, Draw.Io, MindMeister, Lucidchart, gliffy etc. available which help us to create a concept map.

There are mainly four types of concept mapping.

  1. Spider Map:- Spider map is also called semantic map. It is a graphic organizer which starts with our core ideas at the centre, and then branch outwards to subtopics in a radial pattern. Our subtopics can branch out into smaller subtopics, and so on.

It is used only when we have single theme or idea that we want to build upon

2. Flow Chart:- This is a type of concept map which shows the steps of a process. It is a chart where we show the flow of activities that we are planning to do.

It is used to understand a process or make a decision.

3. Hierarchy map:- A hierarchy map is a type of a concept map that shows the order of something.

It is used when we need to understand the elements of a system, alongwith which elements are in the highest position and which are in the lowest.

4. System map:- A system map is undoubtedly the most complex of all types of concept maps. It shows all the different parts of a concept and how they are interrelated. They often end up looking like webs, but they don’t necessarily need to move outward from the center the way a spider map does.

It is used when we need to understand the inner      workings of how a system or team is functioning.

Some other concept maps are Picture landscape concept map, multidimensional/3-D concept map, Mandala concept map etc.

Need of Concept mapping

Concept mapping should be used to gain insight into the ways student view a scientific topic.

It is used to investigate how well students understand the disciplinary-acceptable connections.

It is used to capture the development of student’s ideas over time.

It is used to examine valid understandings and misconceptions the students hold.

It is used to assess the structural complexity of relationships that students depict.

Importance of Concept Mapping:-

The implementation of concept maps in the classroom allows both the teacher and the student discovering and describing meaningful relations among the concepts.

A concept map helps to connect new ideas to knowledge that the learner already have.

They are a handy way to take notes during lectures and are excellent aids to group brainstorming.
