Government of India introduced a new scheme i.e. Agnipath Scheme on 14 June 2022 for the recruitment of soldiers below the rank of commissioned officers into three services of armed forces. All recruits will be hired only for 4 years period and will be known as Agniveers which will be a new military rank. This scheme is expected to be implemented from September 2022. This scheme is for both male and female. Aspirants of age group 17.5 and 21 yrs are eligible for this scheme but only for this year its upper limit is 23 years. The recruitment for this scheme is twice a year in Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. After retirement from this service, they will have opportunities to apply to continue in armed forces but only 25% of the retiring group will be to join
